Her Own Bit Of The Sky (7 tiny tales)

This is the collection of 7 tiny stories revolving around the emotions and decisions of 7 different women from different parts of the world.

1- The best half of life

Coming back home at the age of mid fifties is somewhat like a wonderful retreat if you have lived in foreign lands for the major portion of your life! However, for Erica this sugary feeling eventually turned into disappointment, when she faced the ground reality of being a misfit in her own society at her age.

Now following a new regime of starting the scratch was out of the question. She has to come up with something unique if she had sincerely worked on her growth during the past years.

She is confident about her capability to unlearn & relearn and she has promised herself to stand at the same or even at the higher height of her personality.

She has started magnifying the situations carefully and inferring the ways out of it wisely to settle down gracefully.

Everyone has a mysterious spark in themselves, we only need to discover it for the revelation of our new-self!

2- Conscious decision

Within the six months of her second marriage, she’s again experiencing the same relationship incompatibility!

Her first one was a love marriage, and the second an arrangement to come out of the previous error.

‘Parents were right’, she admitted to herself, ‘I cant make correct decisions’

Failing marriages… She felt vulnerable! With clueless mind, she dragged herself to the crossroad of life, looking for a way.

Why does she need a prop to make herself stand in the society!

She made a conscious decision.

She MIGHT have to undergo tough situations, but she won’t seek refuge in the marriage now!

Always make decisions that prioritize your inner peace. ― Izey Victoria Odiase

3- Forgiveness for a purpose

Jemmy had tried everything from her end, but the apathetic behavior of her spouse was unbearable for her.

She had a choice, either to continue or to break it off. But the report in her hand made her double-minded.

She calmed herself, calculated the pros and cons of all the possible future situations, and decided to continue being resilient in her own way.

She determinedly strode on the path of life, and the time flew by.

Today the tears of joy rolled down her cheeks, seeing her twin daughters, in bridal attire, dancing with their father on a wedding song of their choice.

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future. – Paul Boose

4- Eternal Empire

Jay is nothing without his wife Rhea.

Rhea, besides being a devoted wife and a loving mother of two teenagers, is the backbone of the whole household. Her home seems like a paradise on earth.

Two years back this paradise was mine…only mine; I was the soul of this family. How fast things change in this world? But I am too glad for my family which is as happy with her as it used to be with me.

Rhea my sweet little sister sacrificed her young dreams by marrying an elderly widower to fulfill her elder sister’s promises and responsibilities.

Happiness that comes and never leaves; it is called the bliss of the Soul. -Dada Bhagwan

5- Dazzling desire

Festive-promotions and crowded-shops were driving Jia crazy, but her savings weren’t enough. What was the desire of a 21 year old?

She decided something and determinedly went back home.

Next-day she asked for advance salary of four months; it was her confidence or her luck, she got it.

Triumphantly she purchased her desire which was driving her crazy. On reaching home, she shouted with excitement, ‘mom!’

Her mother’s heart  brimmed with pride on seeing that gift. It was a solitaire diamond-pendant that Jia had bought for her mother, to keep her father’s promise which he made  before he had left for the war.

Love is simply the name for the desire and the pursuit of the whole. -Artistophanes

6- Business minded Benefactors

After marrying Neil, a well-known businessman, Rhea looked forward for a hilarious and independent life, but her dreams of self-identity demolished like a sand-castle. It was a man’s-world; Neil like his father and brother found pride in only being the benefactor.

“The ladies in our family never go out to work because they are the big bosses of the family…. So dress, spend, enjoy and look after the family… that’s your only job darling”.

Being a woman of substance, easily available materialistic-happiness was not Rhea’s choice. Now it’s a cold war between the charitable-luxuries and struggling-identity.

True elegance for me is the manifestation of an independent mind. -Isabella Rossellini

7- Only for myself

It’s already more than a year since her latest achievement!

No new publication! She can’t take this anymore!

She has been dealing with it lightly, thinking it was a procrastination phase, which would get over soon, but it actually seemed to be the fear of performing below her benchmark or losing her popularity gained till date…

Has she been doing this for others or herself?

NO…no…she remembered her favorite author’s words, ‘don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say.’

She decisively got up, walked with a stance, reached her favorite place and started writing….

Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. -Barbara Kingsolver

  1. Hi Sheela, I came over from EverydayGyaan and I really enjoyed reading your page. I love the 7 story idea! It’s also a great reminder to not get sucked into things we can’t control. Maya Angelou’s quote is perfectly phrased and I used to spend far too much time worrying about things I couldn’t change, let alone control. Thank you for a great post #MondayMusings

  2. Absolutely love the seven different human tales on relationship and women’s choices. Beautiful, human and soul stirring.

My blog is my window to the world from where I meet the lovely people like you. You have always been my friend, mentor and a guide because there is something special in you.
